Bes was a very popular divinity, considered the protector of the house; the God of joy, dance, and even representing personal cleanliness. He was considered primarily as a lunar God and only then solar. Bes? mission was mainly to protect personal unions, pregnancy and childbirth. He is represented as a dwarf of robust appearance, obese, bearded, with the tongue hanging out his mouth, and with open wide and thick lips.
