The tour will take us through the history of this fascinating city.
We shall visit the Egyptian Museum to learn about the pharaohs, the development of art during their time, and, of course, to admire the treasures of Tutankhamun.
Our next step takes us to the Citadel of Saladin and the Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali where we shall hear about Islamic art and architecture.
Then we visit the Church of St. George, which provided shelter to the Holy Family after escaping Herodes. We shall learn about the importance of Coptic-Christian art and its development through the times.
We end our tour in a very typical district called Khan El Khalili. While walking through this famous bazaar we observe daily life and the oriental character of this place with its typical shops and cafés.

Description:
A visit to the famous Egyptian Museum is an absolute must. Here the Pharaonic treasures are on display, from Narmer and Akhnaton to Ramses and Tutankhamun.
The Citadel of Cairo was built during medieval times and was used as a fort and residence for the Egyptian rulers until the 19th century. The Alabaster Mosque, with its rococo interior, will remind you of a palace, and the view from the terrace will explain to you why Cairo is called The City of the 1000 Minarets.

In the Oriental atmosphere of a 5 star-restaurant we will enjoy an Egyptian dinner containing a variety of popular and high quality dishes typical of the region.
During the dinner one of the best folkloric groups (Hassan Folkloric Show) will show us a variety of typical folkloric dances which, of course, includes the famous belly dance.

Duration: aprox. 12 hours:
Departure from the hotel at 07.00 h, return to the hotel at 19.00 h. During this excursion we visit the Pyramids of Dahshour which consists of seven pyramids. We will visit two of three which have been recently opened to the public.
The Pyramid of Senefru also called "The Red Pyramid". It is from the IV Dynasty, 104 m in height, its base is 220 m² and its angle is 43°.
The Pyramid of Amenmhat II also called "The White Pyramid". It is from the XII Dynasty. The condition of this pyramid is much deteriorated; therefore we cannot know the original height and width.
The Pyramid of Amenmhat III also called "The Black Pyramid". It is from the XII Dynasty. It is 81.5 m in height, its base is 105 m², and its angle is 57°.
From the pyramids we will continue to the province of Fayoum where we will find Wadi El Rayan. It is a natural basin 42 m below sea level, covering an area of 673 km² with a limestone floor 30 m thick. When water was drained from the area of Fayoum by underground pipes to Wadi El Rayan three lakes were created. Some of the most important treasures of Wadi El Rayan are the crustacean fossils, shark teeth, and crocodile fossils.
During the stay in Wadi El Rayan you will enjoy the panoramic views of one of the lakes; the lake is considered safe and clean -some of the clients decide to take a swim in order to escape Egypt's somewhat dry climate.
Lunch: It will be served shortly after the visit to the lakes and will consist of salad, pasta, chicken, dessert, bread, soft drinks as well as water, tea and/or coffee. Return to Cairo between 19.00 h and 20.00 h.

Description:
Through the artifacts of the museum we will learn more about Christianity in Egypt. Christianity came to Egypt with Mark in the first century A.D., and the largest Christian communities in Egypt, the Copts, call their church one of the oldest in the world. We will hear about the holy family's flight to Egypt, about the first monks and monasteries and about how Pharaonic art and symbols made their way into the new religion. We will also have the possibility to study the development of the Christian art through different times and hardships.

Entrance fees to Memphis Outdoor Museum, the necropolis area of Sakkara, including the Step Pyramids complex and a tomb (Mastaba) of the nobles.
Description:
During the oldest part of the Pharaonic times, the so-called Old Kingdom, Memphis was the capital of Egypt. Here the temple to the creator god Ptah was erected; a temple that is said to have been three times the size of Karnak, and today's outdoor museum contains artifacts from the old city and the temple.
Sakkara was the main necropolis of the city. Here we will see pharaoh Zoser's enormous funeral complex with the Step Pyramid, the first monumental stone building in the history of mankind. We will also see a Mastaba tomb of a noble man showing every day life in ancient Egypt, without it, a visit to Sakkara would be incomplete.

Description:
Until 2000 B.C. Fayoum was an oasis surrounded by desert, but during the Middle Kingdom a canal was built from the Nile to the oasis connecting it to the Nile Valley. The canal is called Joseph's and according to tradition, it was the biblical Joseph who ordered the works.
We will see and hear about farming and irrigation methods, from the Shaduf to water wheels and Archimedes' Screw to modern diesel pumps.
We will also visit the Maidum Pyramid, the first attempt to build a perfect pyramid that ended in a total failure. |

Description:
The tour will take us through parts of the fruit gardens of Egypt to the Suez Canal. This 160 kms long marine road was, and is, the key to the world's transportation when it was inaugurated in 1869. Your guide will tell you all about the canal, including why it so often has been in the news during the last 50 years. You will also go to Ismailia to have the opportunity to see a young Egyptian city, with its beautiful gardens, all built during the construction of the Suez Canal.

Description:
The most famous sight in Egypt is, of course, the Pyramids at the Giza Plateau, dating back to 2500 B.C. One of the seven classic Wonders of the World, they are the oldest and the only remaining wonders. The visit will take us to the highest point of the plateau to have a panoramic view of the area; to the three pyramids (Cheops, Kephren or Mycerinos), where those who wish may enter (with an extra fee), as well as the valley temple of Kephren and the mysterious Sphinx.

Description:
The visit will take you to Manial Palace which was used as one of the Royal Palaces until the revolution, last owned by Mohammed Ali, cousin of King Farouq. The palace ground is a huge garden with two different palaces, a throne room with pictures of the 19th century rulers of Egypt and a small hunting museum.
The Cairo Tower, 187 meters and built in 1961, is the highest building in Cairo; from its panoramic platform you will have a fantastic view of Cairo along the Nile.

Description:
Alexandria, about 215 kms north of Cairo at the Mediterranean Sea, is the second largest city in Egypt. During almost 1000 years, it was the capital of Egypt. There are many fascinating stories about the city and its glories.
The Light House and the Alexandrian Library, once containing all the knowledge of the world, are only a few of the items you will hear more about. The visit will take you to Greco-Roman tombs, to the Roman Theater, as well as the Fort of Qaitbay and the gardens of the Montazah Palace, the summer residence of the royal family.

Alexandrian Library, Greco-Roman Museum and the Jewelry Museum, containing the jewels of the royal family, and lunch at a seafood restaurant. As soon as the new underwater findings have been released and/or exhibitions have been opened, they can also be included.
