This version in its short form (Classic) should not be missed by any visitor coming to Luxor choosing the sites he would like to visit. Some of the most interesting archaeological places are listed hereafter:
Valley of the Kings contains about 63 tombs of pharaohs dating to the Modern Empire. Several of these tombs are open to the public. Normally two or three tombs will be visited (according to permission of the Chamber of Antiquities) to see the theological afterworld concept of the ancient Egyptians as well as the funerary architecture. The tomb of Tutankhamon is not included. Interested visitors will have to buy a separate entrance ticket to visit the inside of this famous tomb.
City of the Workers or Deir El Medina shows the development in urbanization. The tombs of Senneyem and Enherijaou will be visited where exceptionally good preserved paintings show how the ancient Egyptians imagined Paradise.
The Colossi of Memnon are huge statues once standing in front of Amenophis III's temple.
Medinet Habu is the funerary temple of Ramses III and shows the decadence in art following the glorious period of the XVII dynasty. In this temple some unique scenes of the battles between Ramses III and the Hetitas are displayed.
